Award Presentation Ceremony 2018

The Award Presentation Ceremony of Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2018 has been held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 23 April 2018. 25 outstanding local undergraduates have received their certificates.

Within the coming year, they will be supported to attach in the world’s top institutes in overseas or Mainland China, and with a chance to experience living in an academic environment outside Hong Kong. Each awardee will be matched with a well-known scholar as a mentee receiving precious guidance in their learning process. In addition, the Scheme will also provide awardees with the opportunities to take internship locally and make use of what they have learned to apply to local community works.

It is honour to have the unfailing support by renowned personalities and various organisations, awardees would widen their vision and enhance experience in their industry by the initiatives rather than having lesson in the campus. It is hoped that the superior experience of the Scheme would help the students to contribute the society and technology industries in the future.

The Honourable Nicholas W. Yang, GBS, JP, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, mentioned that the Scheme helps expand the network of awardess and widen their horizons.

Mr Raymond CHENG, Group General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, said that he believe the scholarship scheme will help further broaden the awardees’ perspectives, enrich their further study of technology and enable them to be future leaders of technology in a variety of fields.

Mr Andy Ho, The Executive Director of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, praised that the Scheme can enrich both the awardees’ passion for the lifelong careers in the innovation and technology field and their ability within the industry.

The Honourable Bernard Chan, GBS, JP, commented that the quality of the candidates this year are of exceptionally high standards. “Many of them are having incisive perspectives about applying cross-disciplinary technology in their fields of profession.”

Awardee LAU Wing Sum was plagued by Scoliosis since childhood and decided to study Radiography when she grew up. She hoped that she could develop advanced X-ray imaging to solve the problems of Scoliosis and be beneficial to the society .
