Award Presentation Ceremony 2019

The Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Presentation Ceremony for 2019 was held today at the Central Government Offices. The Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie LAM, presented certificates to 25 outstanding innovation and technology undergraduates of local universities. This prestigious Scholarship is jointly supported and sponsored by the Innovation and Technology Commission, and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), organised by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG).

Other guests attending the ceremony were the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W YANG; the Permanent Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr CHEUK Wing-hing; the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, Ms Annie CHOI; Chief Operating Officer, Asia-Pacific, of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Mr Raymond CHENG; Executive Director of HKFYG, Mr. Andy HO and Chairman of the Awardee Selection Committee of the Scholarship, Mr Bernard CHAN.

Mr Raymond CHENG of HSBC encouraged the awardees to go beyond the comfortable and familiar, gain as much exposure to as many disciplines and geographies as possible, and adopt a global perspective and aspire to be a problem solver.

Mr Andy HO of the HKFYG also shared, “the federation firmly supports and encourages young people’s interest and abilities in innovation and technology. Over the past eight years, the Scholarship has supported 200 students to over 70 overseas and Mainland institutions for attachment programmes.”
